This valve was original to my house, lasted about 6-7 years and started hammering pretty bad. I bought some of the fancy "quiet" check values to try to reduce the noise. Not only did they do nothing to reduce the noise, but I went through two of them in 6 months. I came back to this one after those two failed, and am very happy with it. It's quieter than I gave it credit for, and certainly isn't failing in three months or so.

These checks work great due to their simplicity! It's nothing more than a simple rubber flapper. It's quiet, very effective, and reliable. The sump pump my house came with had a mechanical check on it. Six months after I purchased the house, we had a hurricane that dumped 6 inches of rain. The mechanical check got stuck shut...pump was running, but couldn't push the water through the check. Thankfully, I set up a new Zoeller m53 with this check on it two days prior. Caught the flooding situation in time, dropped this pump in its place and was off and pumping. Never will use a mechanical check again!

I have bought a lot of check valves and this one has not broke yet. Usually the ones you buy in local stores only last maybe 6 months. I have an extremely extremely extremely very high water table. 6 months ago they dug a new basement for my new addition and the builder was in shock. dug the basement and then left for 12 hours and had a full blown pond the next morning. So this check valve is the #1 best in my book period. my sump pump in new addition was kicking on every 20 seconds for months. for the existing portion of the house we have 2 sump pumps that are kicking on every 3 to 5 minutes especially if the ground is moist or raining. kicks on every 10 minutes if so called dry outside. and YES I have it set below the holes in the sump pumps to kick on so the water is not filling the lines up and making it work twice as hard. This check valve has last the longest so far. I bought one Zoeller check valve from amazon and one Zoeller check valve at Walmart on the same day and just waited to see which one was going to get here the fastest. I had 1 sump pump shut off because the local store check valve tore again and water went every where, so that made the other one in existing portion work twice as hard. I didn't want both to go out before the NEW check valves got here or I would have a pond in my basement. Then I replaced them and I am a happy camper now.

I had 2 sump pumps that were using different check valves and both were problems in different ways. 1st my main pump had a spring and ball (as best I could tell) that worked properly for a few weeks and then stopped so that water would siphon back into the sump pit when the pump stopped. I removed it and and checked it's operation which seemed OK but after installing again, the same problem surfaced so I thought I'd try the Zoeller and have been 100% happy with the results. My secondary pump had a check similar in operation to the Zoeller but was screwed into the outlet flange on the pump. It did check the back flow but was followed by a loud "water hammer" effect that at times seemed like it could damage the PVC pipework. Installed the 2nd Zoeller about a foot above the sump pit and the problem was instantly solved. Both have been installed several weeks now in the wettest February on record here in Ohio running nearly around the clock without any issues at all. They are easy to install and will be easy to remove to check if any problems arise however I don't anticipate any. Completely happy with these and would buy again without reservation!

I had an old plastic check valve from the "Big Box Store" that was extremely cheap and only one style offered. I purchased a new Zoeller pump and used the old check valve...I hooked up my new pump and it thumped terribly from the old check v. I purchased this Zoeller Check Valve...installed it and "AWESOME" No more "THUMP"... Pumps quietly and stops quietly just a Great companion to the new Zoeller Pump!...and I needed it reversed to the 1.5" super simple to use either sizes and installed very simply 10 mins total.

Zoeller check valve was installed in preparation for installing a battery backup system. Required some PVC changes but the result is a cleaner design that the original installation. I have around a 9 foot lift and servicing the sump pump is simple and way more efficient now. I don't have 8 ft of water flowing back into well. This setup includes two check valves, the zoeller and another at sump pump discharge. Now, I am going to build two walls and install a bi-fold closet door to make servicing easy.

Replaced an older zoeller check valve with this. MUCH QUIETER than the old valve!!! Not sure if the old valve was loud due to design or age, but this one makes almost no noise....at first I thought it was defective it was so quiet. The only drawback to this is that we don't hear that loud 'thunk' to let us know the sump pump is running. I would buy this again! In fact I did buy it again for my backup sump pump!

This has only been installed for about 2 months but I was amazed with the quality. DO NOT BUY HARDWARE STORE CHECK VALVES. All of the ones I looked at were rubber or plastic hoses with a rubber flap as the valve. My spouse had been going through sump pumps on his rental (1 a year). I did a bit of research and found that the check valve is very important. This one is a metal flap and very solid. The clamps are a commercial grade, really the whole product is. I also purchased the zoeller sump pump as Ive had the same zoeller in my crawlspace for almost 20 years with no problems. When replacing both the check valve and sump at his rental, the old check valve was an open house. The rubber flap was gone. His system is believed to be hooked up to drain into the septic so a check valve is very important. I'll never buy anything else.

I am constantly surprised at how seemingly random items can be so much better when you buy a quality item. My sump tends to run a lot during an extended storm, which usually happens at night, so I previously could hear the banging when the sump turned off (sump is basically below the master bedroom). I thought it was the sump making the noise, but it was actually the checkvalves. On advice from a friend, who said the previous checkvalves I had were prone to sticking, I replaced them with these. Now, the cycling of my sumps is nearly silent; just a small click. Not sure of their longevity yet, but performance wise, I am EXTREMELY happy; no loud bang every minute during a storm. Fantastic.

This a very good check valve and worth the additional money, imo. I purchased two, one for my primary and one for my battery power sump pump. They are extremely quiet and well build. Combined with my new Liberty pump, the system runs as smooth as silk. Based on other reviews, I decided to reuse my made in the US and Canada clamps. I will keep the supplied clamps for future use.
